Is it lb-ft or ft-lb?
Physically it is pound-feet (a pound-force acting at a one-foot lever). Both abbreviations appear in spec sheets; the number converts identically.
How do I set an inch-pound wrench in foot-pounds?
Divide by 12: 96 in-lb is 8 ft-lb. The in-lb↔ft-lb pages carry the common wrench settings.
Why do specs say Nm at a certain rpm?
Torque varies with engine speed, so published figures quote the peak. The unit conversion doesn't change — only the rpm at which it occurs.
