Is a US cup the same as a metric cup?
No — the US legal cup used here is 236.5882365 ml. The metric cup (Australia, NZ, Canada in practice) is 250 ml. Recipes that come from those countries expect 250.
Are UK and US fluid ounces the same?
No — the imperial fluid ounce is about 28.41 ml while the US fluid ounce is 29.57 ml. This site uses US units throughout and says so on every page.
